Master Bedroom Feng shui

A serene oasis from the world

Feng Shui for a master bedroom requires a proper balance and flow of energy to support peaceful, restorative sleep and a loving relationship. A master bedroom should be a place of respite. Your sanctuary from everything else in the world around you.

It's a place for rest and romance only. Absolutely everything in the master bedroom should support those activities. Nothing else deserves space in this haven.  The bed is the focal point and should be in the "power position" with a properly supportive solid headboard.

When decorating your master bedroom, take inspiration from a luxury hotel room. Create a focal point of the bed. Rugs should be scaled to the room. Small rugs next to the bed are a trip hazard at night and add clutter. Use a rug that extends under the bed...at least halfway...and into the room to unify the space and give it a cozy feel.

Add layers of texture and sparkle. Additional pillows and throw pillows create a luxurious touch but they don't have to add a lot to your budget. Bedside tables should be of equal "weight" while they don't necessarily have to match. Everything should be scaled to the space but the headboard can be grand...in height/width.

Everything in the space should be well balanced and have pride of place. Avoid cluttered surfaces and minimize wall decor. Leave enough empty space so the room doesn't feel cramped or crammed full. This is difficult in petite rooms, but in that case the trick is to keep all peripheral furnishings light in color to reduce the contrast between wall color and furnishings. If the furnishings more or less disappear into the walls it opens the space and makes it feel and appear airier.

All the senses should be engaged in a serene way...sounds, sights, touch, and smells. This is where you can close the door and be transported to a Zen world of love (whether it's for yourself or with a partner) and peace. If you are with or want to attract a partner, this is how you create a sacred space for that relationship.
