Rabbit Month Feng Shui

February 29, 2024 Helen Keating

March 5 - April 3 is ruled by the 4 Wood Star, which enters Earth and combines with the 3 Wood Star. This is a lot of Wood (growth) and it is controlling the resources of the Center Earth sector. At the same time, the Earth is holding onto the Wood, so you could say that growth and the aggression of the 3 Wood Star are contained. This can make your home feel a little claustrophobic but take advantage of the Spring weather to get out into nature as often as you can. This will not only clear your head, but will induce those happy hormones that you derive from spending time in nature.

The most supportive sector and the place where you want to do activities that pertain to your wealth and career this month is the North.

The Northeast sector is Earth hosting big and small Metal “fighting swords.” Unless you’re an attorney, going into a courtroom battle, or otherwise fighting for something important, this sector is not auspicious. Make sure this sector is secure as there could be issues with loss or accidents.

The East sector the 2 Earth is hosted by Wood and 1 Water. This is a clash situation and is also the energy of Mother controlling Son. So, the idea is that of an adult female rising above the younger male. If you are a mature female who can use the support of this energy in your work/career, then this is a good place to spend doing activities that relate to that. Just know that you may encounter or create tensions in your ascension over a male-dominated situation.

The Southeast sector (Wood), along with 2 Earth Star hosts 3 Wood. This is the energy of the Son fighting to break free of his Mother. The 3 Star is untimely, so it’s also known as the “argument” star. Since it’s being supported by a Wood sector, its energy is enhanced. So, if you are trying to find your independence, just know that once it’s done there’s no going back. Be mindful of how you use this aggressive sector since conversations could escalate into full-blown arguments.

The South sector (Fire) hosts the Annual 7 (Metal) and monthly 8 (Earth) stars. The 8 White is the “past wealth” star so it no longer has the same support for finances. It is also “smothering” the resources of Fire so resources are hard to access. Don’t waste time talking to or explaining to the wrong people. You’ll be slowing the process of freeing up resources.

The Southwest sector (Earth) hosts the Annual 9 (Fire) and Monthly 1 (Water). This combination is the equivalence of water feeding a fertile farmland. Wherever water, earth, and sun come together there will be a bountiful harvest. This is an especially good sector for those who are in the entertainment field and ecommerce to use to bring their art to the next level.

The West sector (Metal) hosts the annual 5 (Wu Wang) Earth and the monthly 6 White (authority) Metal. This enhances the energy of the 6 Metal and the combination with Earth further enhances it. However, not in a good way, since it creates a volatile energy. If you’re a leader in a crisis situation, this could be helpful, but otherwise, it’s better to avoid using this sector for activities that could create a volatile situation.

The Northwest sector (Metal) hosts the Annual 4 Wood, which reduces growth. The monthly 5 Misfortune star creates volatile energy that can spread uncontrollably. It’s best to avoid this sector altogether. We could see a lot of propaganda and tabloid-style sensationalism coming from the Northeast this month.

There are physical adjustments that can be made to help mitigate this energy. If you’re interested in having your home or workplace audited so you can receive the greatest support from your environment, please feel free to email me at HelenKstyles@gmail.com for more information.

Period 9: Period 8 Audits Will Be Obsolete

October 3, 2023 Helen Keating

Period 9 is starting its transition and will be arriving coincidentally with the Year of the Yang Wood Dragon on February 4, 2024. This is not business as usual when it comes to how the energy will be read for the next 20 years.

You’ve heard of the Flying Stars that are formed through calculations based on planetary movement. Each of the nine “Stars” is assigned characteristics based on Yin, Yang, and the 5 Elements/Phases. This is part of a shorthand that was developed thousands of years ago, after thousands of years of observation and tracking the natural cycles.

As discussed in last month’s article, there nine 20-year periods based on the movement and location of Jupiter. We are currently ending the 20-year period that is ruled by the 8 White Star. Since every star has a life cycle within the cycle, the 8 White is approaching a change in its attitude from “Prevailing Wealth” to “Past Wealth.”

The Prevailing Wealth Star in Period 9 will be the 9 Purple Star, which is currently considered “Future Wealth.” The 8 White will then be delegated to a Past Wealth status that will be somewhat diminished in energy, but it will still be usable and have a “good” nature.

Each Star will similarly be finding a new position in its life cycle, and with that there will be new interpretations of their energy and usefulness. Some will change profoundly. For instance, the 2 Black “Illness” star will have an entirely different set of characteristics that are favorable in Period 9. All because of where it will be in its life cycle!

These changes in characteristics will change the way the energy map/natal chart of your home or office is interpreted and adjusted. You may not have been keeping up with annual changes, but this is a critical juncture for how your home or office energy is affected.

I’ll be sending a notification to all of my current and past clients regarding updates for Period 9 and the Year of the Dragon. If you have never had your home or business audited, now would be a good time to do so. You can either respond to this newsletter or email me at: HelenKstyles@gmail.com

September 2023 Month the the Yin Metal Rooster

September 3, 2023 Helen Keating

Xin You 辛酉

The Rooster month (Sept 8 - Oct 7) in the Rabbit year is known as the Sui Po or Year Breaker. It’s the month that’s directly opposite the annual zodiac animal on the compass. The Rabbit occupies the East 2 position and the Rooster occupies the West 2 position. This creates energy known as Clash, which can bring change and challenge. So this month will most likely be one with ups and downs. The Yin Water of the year will wash over the Yin Metal of the month and make it shine. Since the Rooster is connected to pride, value, romance, talent, and beauty, these sectors and values will come to the forefront this month as the ambitious Yin Metal Rooster pursues perfection. There could be dramatic events this month as a result of the energetic interaction of metal and water combined with the flamboyant Rooster.

The Rooster month also marks the peak of Autumn, according to the Chinese calendar. And this year the Yin Metal core element of the Rooster is augmented by the Yin Metal Heavenly Stem. Yin Metal is associated with jewelry, as opposed to Yang Metal, which is associated with forged metal, such as in weaponry. Yin metal is more pliable and yielding while seeking perfection.

The Yin Metal Rooster (Xin You 辛酉) month combined with a Dragon in your chart forms a 6 Combination that basically cures any clashes and supports you through this month.

If you have a Rooster in your chart, this is a Self Penalty month for you. That means that you need to be mindful of any negative self-speak and self-sabotaging behavior.

If you have Monkey, Rat, or Dragon in your chart, this could be a great month for your social life as it forms a Peach Blossom with Rooster.

If you have Yin Fire or Yang Fire in your chart, or were born in a year ending with 1, this is a Nobleman month for you. Use this helpful energy wisely. Reach out for outside support/help for anything in which you may need assistance.

(If you want to schedule an analysis of your Bazi chart, contact me HERE)

Feng Shui Analysis for the Month of the Rooster in the Year of the Rabbit:

The universal Feng Shui Chart for September is ruled by the 1 White Star (career). It combines with the Annual 4 Green Star (academics, relationships) to enhance academic and relationship support. This is the most supportive area of your home or office this month and a great place for activities that pertain to relationships or academics. It’s also a good area for gatherings of friends and family. There is also a 10 Combination in the Southeast, which supports is supportive for all activities.

Sectors of concern this month:

Northwest: The most inauspicious sector since the annual 5 Yellow Malicious Star (Wu Wang) combines with the Monthly 2 Black Illness Star. Avoid activating this sector through activity. If it’s the location of your front door, use an alternate entry this month.

Southwest: The 7 Red Star (robbery, loss, violence) is hosted by the Annual 1 White. Since the SW sector (Earth) supports the 7 (Metal) and diminishes the 1 (Water), be mindful of security and be careful with knives or weaponry here.

2023 Xuan Kong Flying Stars

January 1, 2023 Helen Keating

2023 Year of the Rabbit will begin on February 4, 2023. This year will be governed by the 4 Creativity/Academics/Romance Star. This Wood element is hosted by an Earth Palace. This is a destructive cycle for these elements…Wood destroys Earth. So, while the wood will be drawing energy from the earth, it will create tension between the two, which has the potential to create obstacles this year. At the same time, it will be a year for academics/studies. So if you’ve considered adding to your knowledge base, the energy of the 4 Green Star will support you.

The Tai Sui (Grand Duke Jupiter) sits in the East (E2)this year, which is governed by the Rabbit. The Tai Sui can be supportive if you sit with your back to it but is “offended” if you face it, so avoid doing so. Also, the 2 Black Illness Star (Earth) is hosted by the East Palace (Wood). While the Wood will control the Earth and reduce its efficacy, it will also create tension, so it’s best not to activate this sector. No construction, noise, or high activity.

The Sui Po (Year Breaker) is always opposite the Tai Sui, so it will be in the West (W2). The San Sha (7 Killings) will also occupy the West…but will include the entire sector from SW3 to NW1. Once again, this sector is best left undisturbed this year. The Metal 6 White Career Star is hosted here this year, which receives energy from this Metal sector, so it will support careers. If this is an area that you normally use for career activities, turn on a lamp to dissipate the energy of the San Sha and position yourself so you face the West.

The Northwest hosts the 5 Yellow Misfortune Star. While this Earth Star will be somewhat diminished by the Metal of this sector, it’s best not to activate this star. No construction, loud noises, or high activity.

The North (Water) hosts the 9 Purple (Fire) Expansion/Celebration Star. Water obviously controls fire, so there’s very little energy available and a lot of tension which can negatively affect the middle son or health issues concerning the heart or eyes.

The Northeast (Earth) hosts the 7 Red Violence Star (Metal), and contributes to its efficacy. If a door or window is located here, be mindful of security. If a kitchen is located here, be careful when using knives.

The Southeast (Wood) hosts the 3 Jade (Wood) Argument Star. This star can be helpful if you need courage. However, it’s an aggressive star, which is being boosted by its own element so be very careful about how you use this energy since it can promote arguments and lawsuits. When using this sector, be mindful of how you interact with others and if a conversation to escalate into an argument, de-escalate/move to another area of the house or office.

The South (Fire) sector hosts the 8 White Wealth Star (Earth). This is the most favorable sector of the year. The Fire of the South will fuel the efficacy of the 8 Wealth Star so this is a very supportive sector to spend time and to activate with activities!

The Southwest (Earth) hosts the 1 White Authority/Fame Star (Water). Unfortunately, the Earth of this Sector will “dam up” the favorable energy of the 1 White Star and create tension in this sector.

This is the generic Flying Stars for 2023. However, the annual stars are only one part of the equation when it comes to working with the energy within your home or office. Every building has its own “natal chart” and every person occupying the space will bring another layer of energy. If you are interested in having your home, office, or business audited, you may contact me HERE.

November 2022 Flying Stars

November 2, 2022 Helen Keating

7Nov - 6Dec is the month of the Yin Metal Pig. This month is ruled by the 2 Black Illness Star which visits the annual 5 Yellow Catastrophic Star. As you can well imagine, this is not a favorable combination and can portend both health and financial disasters. As the flu season kicks in and COVID is still hanging around, be mindful of your health. Make sure you’re being well nourished, getting plenty of sleep, and moving every day to keep your immune system strong. If you haven’t added moving metal to the center of your home, it would be a good idea to do so. Also, to lessen the effects of the monthly 2 Star, move one set of your 6 coins to the center sector.

The other area of concern, though not quite as offensive, is the Northeast. The monthly 5 Yellow Star visits here and combines with the annual 8 White Wealth Star. While the benevolent 8 White takes the edge off the 5 Yellow, I would still move the second set of your 6 coins to this sector to mitigate the energy of the 5 even further.

In the Southeast sector, the annual 4 Green Creativity Star is visited by the beneficial 1 White Fame star this month. This combination supports creativity and relationships. It also supports academics, so if you’re a student, this would be a good area for academic activities.

October 2022 Flying Stars

October 1, 2022 Helen Keating

Flying Star Chart for Yang Metal Dog month, 2022

This month the central energy involves the 3 Jade (Wood) hosted by the 5 Yellow (Earth). Since Wood controls Earth, the 3 star will lessen the catastrophic nature of the 5 star. This combination does produce some tension, however. Especially since the 3 Star, also known as the “agrumentative” star because of its aggressive nature. It’s also known as the “courage” star for the same reason. Since it’s an usable star, in its life cycle, I tend to go along with the courageous nature of it. But don’t forget that even the tenacious can be too aggressive. So mind your manners and be thoughtful about how you speak to and treat others this month. That underlying tension may release a monster that will be difficult to recapture.

As usual, there are areas of your home or office where you’ll want to spend more time and areas you’ll want to avoid:

Southeast: The 2 Black Illness Star (Earth) is hosted by the 4 Green Creative Star (Wood). This Wood-Earth combination will create tension. Move 6 of your coins to this sector and avoid activities here.

West: The 5 Yellow Catastrophe Star (Earth) is hosted by the 7 Red Aggressive Star (Metal). This combination isn’t conducive to a harmonious life since the untimeliness of them both brings out the worst of their characteristics. Move 6 of your coins to this area and avoid it. If you cannot avoid this area, add a plant or 3 stalks of bamboo in a container of water.

Southwest: The expansive 9 Purple (Fire) star is hosted by the 2 Black Illness star. The Fire of the 9 feeds the Earth of the 2, making it even more powerful than it is. If you don’t have your annual metal adjustment in this sector, avoid it. Especially if you have any kind of immune or chronic disease.

North: Two white stars (Fame/authority & Wealth) combine to create a very supportive area. Don’t hesitate to spend time

Northeast: Again, we see two white stars (Wealth & Career) in combination to provide stellar support. This is the best sector for activities this month.

East: If you need a little extra courage this month, this is the place to be. But be mindful as to how you use it as the 3 Wood can be triggered to produce arguments. Rein it in if you find yourself in a contentious situation.

September 2022 Flying Stars

August 31, 2022 Helen Keating

Month of the Yin Earth Rooster

The central energy of this month has underlying conflict as wood visits to try to control earth. Make sure you have your annual moving metal in the center of your home or office to avoid the potential for misfortune. Sometimes conflict can be healthy, but when it involves the misfortune star (5) it’s not a good combo.

Where to place your metal coins:

The 5 Misfortune star visits the Northwest so move one set of your 6 coins to this sector.

The 2 Illness star visits the East so move one set of 6 coins to this sector.

Where to spend time:

The South hosts the benevolent 8 Wealth star and the fire of that zone will empower it. So this is a great area to spend time this month.

The North hosts the expansive 9 Purple star, and there’s a clash with the water of this zone. Clash can lead to changes that are beneficial, but can also create obstacles. So if you’re spending time here doing anything that pertains to personal growth or business growth, you could find some obstacles along wht way but there’s energy to support growth and change.

Where to avoid:

The Northeast hosts the 7 Violence star and the earth of that zone will empower it. If your front door is here, be mindful of security and don’t place anything metal here.

The West hosts the 6 Career star and the yin metal of this zone will combine with it to produce a lot of metal. While it could produce good career energy, there’s also the danger of “fighting swords” so it may lead to conflict with regard to career. I would avoid this zone when doing tasks related to career…and maybe place some bamboo in a vase of water to help mitigate all of the metal.

Wishing you a happy and prosperous month! If you want a personalized evaluation of your home or office, please reach out to me HERE.

August 2022 Flying Stars: A Powerhouse

August 2, 2022 Helen Keating

Month of the Yang Earth Monkey, Wu Shen 戊 申

This month every building/house is ruled by the 5-5 Misfortune combination. If you may recall, this year the annual stars are all in their “home” palaces, which makes them twice as strong. The current monthly stars are also in their “home” palaces, tripling that energy, whether favorable or unfavorable. If you don’t have your annual adjustment of moving metal in the center of your home, It would be wise to do that now, because the energy in the center palace radiates out into the rest of the building.

Areas of concern:

Center: As stated, the Misfortune star “piles on” with the potentially disastrous energy of a double Wu Wang. So, even if you have your annual adjustment in place, to mitigate the monthly Misfortune star, move one set of coins to this sector.

Southeast: The 2 Illness star adds to the already dangerous potential in this area for illness. Move the second set of coins to this sector.

West: This sector is ruled by the 7-7 red combination, known as “fighting swords.” The energy is exactly as it sounds, with the potential for violence and loss. If an entry or window is located here there is potential for robbery and other types of break-ins so be mindful of security here. You may also want to add either a tabletop water feature or 3 stalks of bamboo in a container of water (not dirt). The water and wood will take the edge off the volatile metal of the fighting swords. If this is in a kitchen be very mindful of using knives, as the other potential is for “accident by metal.” If weaponry of any kind is located in this area, keep it secured in a locked cupboard or safe.

East: This sector is ruled by the 3-3 combination, with potential for arguments and lawsuits. Avoid activities and conversations here that can lead to escalating tempers.

Where to spend time:

South: The added fire element visits with potential for celebration and expansion. This energy will support any activity you do here.

North: Water, water, water…the element of fame and fortune! This area is perfect for you to work on anything pertaining to your career and reputation.

Northwest: The 6 White Career star will be extra supportive for activities pertaining to your career. Whether you are doing something directly related to your career or continuing education, this is a good place to do it.

Northeast: The benevolent 8 White star of wealth settles in to support your prosperity here. Not a bad place to spend time and do activities related to your financials, both short and long-term! The prosperous nature of the 8 White earth star will support you in many ways…so if prosperity to you is personal growth and relationships, you will be supported.

Southeast: The 4 Green star is in decline so normally has very little energy. However, since we are now in a cycle of triple energy, it should be considered usable. It’s most known for supporting creativity and relationships and when combined with water, it forms a Peach Blossom. It also supports studies and writing. If you want to conceive a child and your bedroom is in the Southeast, you’ll be getting extra support this month. If you’re not, take appropriate precautions because there is a lot of “creative” energy here. To enhance the Peach Blossom, add a water element but be careful if your relationship is a little rocky since it can backfire and your partner may stray.

July 2022 Flying Stars

July 1, 2022 Helen Keating

This month every building/house is ruled by the 5-6 combination, which is potentially harmful for career and health. Be mindful and if you don’t have your annual adjustment in place, It would be helpful to add moving metal to this sector, especially if it’s located in an active room.

Other areas of concern:

North: the Illness Star moves in and tries to dominate the water so it creates tension around reputation and reproductive systems. Move 6 of your coins to this sector to help mitigate this energy and avoid activation of this area.

Southeast: There’s potential for health and financial issues. Move 6 of your coins to this sector and avoid activities here.

Where to spend time:

Northeast: The fire element visits to pump up the volume on the annual Wealth Star. A good area for activities pertaining to career and finances.

June 2022 Flying Stars

June 2022 Flying Star Chart

This month every building is ruled by the 5-7 combination which has no redeeming qualities. Be mindful of your health and relationships. If your kitchen, dining room, or any other highly active room is located in the center of the house, add 3 stalks of bamboo in a vase of water.

Other areas of concern:

South: The Illness Star (Earth) visits and is invigorated by the fire element. Move 6 of your coins to this segment.

East: The Catastrophe Star (Earth) visits and is agitated by yang wood element. Move 6 of your coins to this segment.

Areas to spend time:

Northeast: The 8-1 combination of “white” stars of wealth and fame make this a good area to spend time working on anything career-oriented.

Northwest: The 6-8 combination of wealth stars make this a good area for activities related to finances and career…including college prep.

May 2022 Flying Stars

May 1, 2022 Helen Keating

May Flying Stars

The central energy of the May Flying stars is ruled by the benevolent 8 White Wealth star (Earth element), which is supported by the 5 Yellow Earth annual star and the Earth Central Palace. This 5-8 combination supports wealth/money only in the current era since the 8 White is prevalent.

The area of most concern this month is the Southwest, where the two most malevolent stars meet in a dense Earth palace. This is an area that has the potential for accidents and illness. Move 6 of your coins to this area to help mitigate this monthly intersection, but I would also avoid spending a lot of time in this sector. If your front door is here, either use an alternate entry or add moving metal (a clock with metal hands/pendulum). Keep this area quiet, tidy, and avoid high activity.

The monthly 2 Black Illness Star flies to the Northeast, though it should less of an obstacle when it meets the benevolent annual 8 White Wealth Star. You may opt-out of coins in this sector unless this is the bedroom of a Water Ming Gua/Trigram person or someone who suffers afflictions of the abdominal region.

The Northwest sector has a Fire-Metal clash which creates tension and potential for injuries/illness of the head and pulmonary regions. Avoid spending a lot of time here but if it’s a main entry or bedroom, add some crystals or clay pottery to mitigate the clashing combination.

The North sector is an especially good area for study and creativity this month.

Apr 2022 Flying Stars

April 1, 2022 Helen Keating

The month of the Yang Wood Dragon: April 5 - May 4, 2022.

This month the 9 Purple “Celebration” Star (Fire element) moves to the center Palace, where it encounters a lot of dense, damp Earth. Fire produces Earth, so Earth has a reductive impact on the energy of the 9 Purple. This will be the overall energy of this month…with hope waiting in the wings while the damp earth of malevolence tamps it down. If you have added a moving metal annual adjustment to the center Palace of your home/office, it will help attenuate the power of the Earth energy, and the 9 Purple Star will have a positive overall effect on your home/office. Alternatively, if there is a “wet” room (bathroom) in the center sector the water will have a reductive impact on both the dense Earth and the Fire…neutralizing this Palace.

Areas of concern this month:
West: The monthly Illness Star joins the annual violence star. Earth produces Metal so Metal reduces Earth. However, combined with the 7 Red Star, the 2 Black are an unfortunate combination so move 6 coins to this sector to attenuate the energy of the monthly star.
North: The 5 Yellow Malevalent Star (Earth) joins the 1 White Fame/Authority Star (Water). Water meets Earth. Earth controls Water and the combination creates tempestuous energy. To mitigate this, and to give more energy to the Fame/Authority Star, move 6 coins here. Once that has been done, this becomes a favorable sector, especially for activities that affect your ability to move up in your job or enhance your reputation.

Favorable areas for this month:
South: The 4 Green Creative Star (Wood) joins the 9 Purple Celebration Star (Fire). Wood produces Fire, so this is a good place to hang out for some good support, especially for a bright or gifted child.

Mar 2022 Flying Stars

March 2, 2022 Helen Keating

March Xuan Kong Flying Stars

The Month of the Water Rabbit is ruled by the Auspicious 1 White “Fame” Star. However, this water element, which will be combining with the Earth of the Malevolent annual 5Yellow Star, with potential for health issues of the GI and reproductive systems. It’s best to avoid activating this area so not an area to hang out. Your annual adjustment should attenuate the issues caused by the 5 Yellow.

The other areas of concern for this month are:

Northwest hosts the 2 Black illness star. The annual Career Star resides here and is generally considered a supportive area, but with the Illness star combined with it you will want to move/add one set of your 6 metal coins to this area to mitigate the 2 Yellow.

South hosts 5 Yellow Calamity Star and combines with the 9 Purple Celebration Star. The fire of the South, combined with the 9 Purple enhances the earth of the 5 Yellow, with potential for catastrophic illness and loss. To mitigate this, move your second set of 6 coins to this location for the month of March.

The best energy for this month is in the North. It’s occupied by two of the three White Stars, to promote authority and career. If you are looking for a promotion at work or want to promote your business, spend some time here doing whatever activities will promote you, careerwise.

If you are interested in having a Feng Shui audit of your home or business/office, you can leave a message for me HERE. I respond within 24hrs.

Feb 2022 Flying Stars

February 1, 2022 Helen Keating

Month of the Water Tiger: Feb 4 - Mar 4 2022

2022 is ruled by the 5 Yellow Catastrophe Star, which is in its full strength in its native Palace (earth). It is joined by the ruling star of the month, the 2 Black Illness Star. In Feng Shui, the 2-5 combination is one of the two most inauspicious combinations in Feng Shui. Add or move 6 coins to the Center Palace this month to reduce the monthly star. If you haven’t already done so, the energy of the Annual 5 is reduced with Moving Metal.

The monthly 5 Yellow Catastrophe Star joins the 8 White annual star (wealth) in the Northeast sector. The energy of the 8 White Wealth star is powerful this year so reduce the monthly 5 Black with 6 metal coins.

The annual 2 Black Illness Star is joined by the monthly 8 White wealth star in the Southwest and modifies the bad qualities of the 2 with its good earth qualities. This combination makes the SW a reasonably good area in which to be active.

The annual 7 Red Violence Star is joined by the monthly 4 Green Creative Star in the West. If you haven’t mitigated the annual star, there is potential for health concerns, including miscarriage, coughing, and wounding.

The annual 6 White Career Star is joined by the monthly 3 Jade Star of Tenacity in the Northwest. This combination has potential for health issues and isn’t a good area for teenagers to spend time.

The annual 1 White Authority Star is joined by the monthly 7 Red in the North. The metal of the 7 will promote the water of the 1. A good area to spend time if you’re in sales. It’s also good for travel.

The annual 3 Jade Tenacity Star is joined by the 9 Purple Growth Star in the East. This is good for the bedroom of a studious child. Potential for fire-related injury so avoid burning candles here.

The annual 4 Green Creativity Star is joined by the 1 White Authority Star in the Southeast. This combination is good for creativity, academic achievement, and reputation/fame.

The annual 9 Purple Star of Celebration/Growth is joined by the monthly 6 White in the South. This Fire+metal combination is not good for family or health issues of the lungs. If this is an active area where your family hangs out you might want to add a little fire adjustment but be mindful of the use of an open flame since there would be potential for a fire hazard.

If you haven’t had a personalized Feng Shui audit done of your home or office, now would be a good time to do it. Years when the Stars all fly to their native Palaces are ruled by high energy and catastrophic potential with the 5 Yellow trapped in the center. Combine that with the Water Tiger energy and this is a year to do what you can to harness the energy. Contact me HERE to schedule your 2022 audit or update.

Jan 2022 Feng Shui

January 3, 2022 Helen Keating

January 2022 Flying Stars Chart

January is ruled by the 3 Star of courage and arguments. The 3 Jade Star is a Wood element and the Center Palace is an earth palace, which is a Destruction Cycle of the phases. The Annual 6 White Metal star is at the end of its life this month, but is being supported by the Earth element to give its last breath a little more energy. The 6 White also in a Destruction Cycle with the 3 Jade. This combination will render the 3 Jade less influential than the 6 White, which supports career.

The areas of most concern in January:

Southeast: Both the Annual Wu Wang (5 Yellow) and the monthly 2 Black Illness Star occupy this sector. Both are unfavorable Earth elements. Even though the Wood of this sector is in a destruction cycle with these two stars, the fresh energy of the Illness star this month should be mitigated with 6 round metal coins.

West: Once again, we have two Earth Stars together. Even though the benevolent 8 White Wealth star would normally turn the 5 Black into less of a threat, the energy of the 8 White is diminished by the metal of the West Palace as well as being at the end of its life cycle. Mitigate the 5 Black Misfortune star with 6 metal coins.

NOTE: monthly remediation is done in addition to the annual adjustments and do not affect any annual mitigation that’s in place.

Activate the East Palace by spending time there. The Annual 4 Green Star of Academics, Creativity, and Relationships is hosted by the Wood element of the East. This month, the 1 White Star of Fame and Authority arrives here to support the waning energy of the Wood, and adds a bit of vibrance with its Water element. So this is a good area to spend time writing, studying, or creating. If your bedroom is located in this sector and you want to become pregnant, this star combination supports that act of “creating” as well.

9 Purple Growth Star

The 9 Purple Growth Star in the West

The 9 Purple Growth Star in the West

The 9 Purple (fire) star enters the West (metal) this year. The 9 is also known as the Growth Star because of it’s expansive nature. It is a very large character in the pantheon of Stars, and it encourages growth and happiness.

The 9 Purple Star has an expansive character. It supports achievement, growth, overall happiness, and success. It’s one of the four favorable/auspicious Stars and like the Fire element it represents, it can set things ablaze! The areas that would benefit from this Star are the main entry, the office or workroom, or any place where you want additional support and growth.

This Fire Star enters the Tui metal sector this year which is oppositional, according to the I Ching. But from the disorder of opposition can come order. This is observed in natural creation: male & female, sky and earth, etc. The path between yin and yang is where we try to reconcile both poles. Small steps and compromise will yield better results than advancing like a tank.

Take precautions if the Purple Star is in the kitchen, since the Fire Element in kitchens (cook-stove) can be a source of unintentional fires. Also, if a person suffers from emotional/mental disorders or has a tendency for violence, this Fire star is too much Yang energy in a bedroom. The 9 Purple Star also energizes the other stars in the natal chart, making the good ones better but the unfavorable ones even worse. It’s important to be judicious with the 9 Purple, so employing the service of a Feng Shui professional would be advisable.

8 White Wealth Star

January 26, 2020 Helen Keating
2020 NW-8 Wealth.png

8 White Wealth Star in the Northwest

The Wealth Star (earth) enters the Northwest (metal) this year. In this location the Wealth Star is somewhat diminished, but this benevolent star has the support of the Prevailing 8 White Star of the current Era, so there’s lots of positive support and potential. This star has a very high frequency and can support you in every aspect of your life aspirations.

The 8 White Star is the third of three White auspicious stars, but this Star is the most auspicious and benevolent of them all. While the Wealth Star supports finances and investments, it’s also known as the Prosperity Star which has the potential for all-around prosperity in every aspect of your life. Of course, if you don’t DO the things you need to do, it’s not a magic box that will suddenly make wealth appear. Your aspirations and actions have to be equal for that to happen. There are no free rides. But this sector is a good place for you to conduct sales meetings, close a deal, and make plans for how you’ll increase your wealth this year.

If you want to activate this Star, the common activator would be a Fire element, but only if the natal chart of this sector is amenable to the addition of Fire. You would need the advice of a trained professional to determine that, so I don’t advise using this activator because it’s possible to upset the balance of energy here. Since the Wealth Star is so benevolent, there’s really no need to activate it. As a wise Feng Shui Master once said, “If the energy is already auspicious, don’t be greedy.”

The Northwest would be considered your “Wealth Corner” for the Year of the Metal Rat. You may want to display items here that are associated with prosperity. It’s also a great location for your vision board, since the energy here supports prosperity in all aspects of your life. If the main entry (aka the Mouth of Chi) to your home or business is in this sector, it will enrich the chi entering the building with wealth energy. If your office, studio, or workshop is in this sector, it will support your ability to generate wealth through your products or services.

7 Red Violence Star

January 25, 2020 Helen Keating
The 7 Violence Star enters the Center Palace

The 7 Violence Star enters the Center Palace

The Center Palace is an indicator of the overall potential for a building and the year. In 2020 the 7 Red (metal) enters this earth sector, which amplifies the energy of the Red Star, also known as the Violence Star because of its aggressive energy pattern.

You definitely don’t want this inauspicious energy to be activated this year, and the ultimate goal would be to mitigate this energy since the Center Palace directly and indirectly influences the overall character of the house or building. The 7 Red star vibrates at a lower frequency that has the potential to support robbery, disputes, fire, injury, isolation, and even imprisonment. The center sector is associated with an earth element, which will amplify the 7 Red Star, in accordance with the principles of the Five Phases/Five Elements.

The normal approach to mitigating this star would be to add water. However, the use of water in the center is not advisable. The other option would be a more aggressive approach of adding fire. Since this Palace represents an unfavorable Earth and there are two other “sick” earth Stars that could reside here (natal chart) the addition of Fire could potentially produce even more unfavorable energy than the single Red Star. So, either way, this is risky without the guidance of a Feng Shui professional.

The safest approach is to avoid spending time here. The 7 Red energy will go unchecked but if this is an area of low activity, it will not be as impactful. Instead, be mindful of your interactions with others. Don’t get into litigious situations and take the appropriate precautions for your safety, security, and the management of your finances and investments. In Feng Shui we work with three energy patterns, one of which is People Energy. Personal accountability is always going to be the ultimate approach to solving problems and mitigating potential problems. Your environment is part of your support system, but ultimately our actions will write our story.

If this is an area of high activity such as a staircase or kitchen, be very mindful and careful (especially if your oven or cook-top is here) to avoid accidents. Keep this area as peaceful and quiet as possible. Similar to sound waves, when agitated, this Star can send out a ripple of unfavorable energy across your home and life. So this year be cautious, mindful, calm, and keep your vibration high to counterbalance the energy of the Violence Star.

6 White Career Star

January 24, 2020 Helen Keating
The 6 White Career Star in the Southeast

The 6 White Career Star in the Southeast

The 6 white Career Star (metal) enters the Southeast (wood) in 2020. One of the three questions I’m asked as a Feng Shui specialist is, “What can I do to support my career?” The energy of this Star can help.

Whether you are trying to climb the corporate ladder or you run your own business, the vibration of this energy pattern can support you. Do you want to impress those for whom you work? To be an important person or become indispensable in your role? Do you want to start your own business or take your business to the next level? Or maybe you want to create a rock solid brand that people can rely upon.

Activating the Career Star can enhance your career-related aspirations and prospects in 2020. But what does it take for you to be successful in your career? You have to think like and be a leader. You have to be able to strategize, direct, and lead. Those who acquire the leadership skills to lead a team, to get things done, to be more efficient, will provide value in a positive way. Use the energy of this Star to support your growth in these areas to make you an asset to others and yourself.

You have to make other people feel confident in your skills and to feel confident in your ability to help them. It is truly great leaders who achieve real success. Those who use others and cheat their way through the system to gain riches while they hurt others will only have money. They will never have true success. They will never be admired for their leadership because true leaders in industry are servant leaders. Unless you use the gifts you have as a leader to lift others up along the way, your value will only be counted in dollars and cents, which is not the real metric of success. We look up to those who give back to community and the world at large. But those who leave carnage in their wake while they grow rich will not achieve the kind of success that’s admired.

Activating the Career Star can support you, but you can’t just sit around in this area and wait for things to happen. You have to be willing to do your part; to take on more responsibility. The energy of the 6 White will help you step up to the level you need to be so you can achieve your career goals. It will facilitate, but without your actions, it cannot bring you success. It’s not a genie. You may have trepidation about success and a leadership role but the Career Star can support you so you feel more confident.

If you are comfortable with the idea of taking on more responsibility in your career, you may activate the South with an earth element, such as a large crystal or collection of crystals, a large piece of pottery, or large clay statuary. Depending on the natal chart of your building you may need a metal activator. The safest way to activate this star is to seek the consultation of a Feng Shui specialist. But if you don’t activate this sector you can at least spend more time here with this energy as you carry out your career-related activities.

5 Yellow Disaster Star

January 23, 2020 Helen Keating
5 Yellow/Wu Wang

5 Yellow/Wu Wang

The Wu Wang, or 5 Yellow Disaster/Calamity Star is hosted by the East sector this year. This is one of the 4 Annual Afflictions for 2020. The east sector is associated with the wood element, which will control the earth element of the 5, mitigating the fullest potential of the 5. However, this controlling relationship also creates turbulence and unrest.

The best approach to take with this energy is to avoid activation of this sector. Keep it tidy, calm, and quiet to avoid activating the 5 Yellow energy. This includes no construction or earthwork in or around this sector in 2020. If there is construction nearby, either completely avoid spending time in the East sector or hang a large metal wind chime on your house between the construction site and your house to help mitigate the triggering energy that activates the Disaster/Calamity Star. Adding an interior mitigator depends on the specifics of your space, but generally speaking, moving metal is a preferred method for deactivating the Disaster Star.

If your front door is in the East sector, it’s best that you enter your house through another door this year. Perhaps you have a garage entry or a back door that you can use. If you don’t have another door you can use, avoid slamming the door and high activity. Move in and out of this area quietly and gently. If your bedroom or work space is in this sector, move to another room this year if possible, since this is the most detrimental of all the Annual Afflictions with calamitous potential. If you can’t do this, be mindful of how you spend time here and keep it orderly and calm. In this case, it would also be best to consult a professional Feng Shui specialist to help you find the best way to manage this energy in your specific home or business.

This Star is particularly inauspicious for those with Monkey in their BaZi chart. There is potential for relationship issues, emotional issues, frustration, setbacks, and depression, depending upon where Monkey appears in your chart. If you have the Horse in your chart this can also be bothersome. The Horse is in opposition to the Grand Duke in 2020, so there is some additional negative potential. If you add an activated Wu Wang, it could be pretty unpleasant.

Everything is vibrational. Our thoughts, our bodies, and everything in the environment around us has a specific vibrational pattern or frequency. This is simple physics. And as vibrational patterns intersect with or encounter other vibrational patterns, they change. This may be a positive or negative change but there is always going to be change. The goal in Feng Shui is to mitigate negative patterns and enhance or activate positive patterns.

As with all unfavorable energy patterns, being mindful of the potential provides us with the information we need to prepare and plan for mindful practices. Even though there is potential for either favorable or unfavorable outcomes, we are ultimately responsible for how we use this energy. Where there is inauspicious energy, mindfulness plays a large role. Take care in your activities in those areas and don’t do reckless things. We have the will to overcome anything we set our minds to. Take steps to improve your health, especially if you have chronic or recurring issues. We are not indestructible and these inauspicious areas remind us that we need to be more mindful as we go through our daily lives.
